wild albinos!?
over the weekend I was at my girlfriends house and found that her grandfather had found and captured a pair of albino garter snakes. i know that they aren't necessarily a popular pet species, but to find not one, but two albinos in the wild was pretty cool! has anyone else ever seen albinos in the wild?

you'd be surprised at how popular mutants are of any species.
did you keep them?

im sure its a rarity to find albinos in the wild, they are easy targets for predators.

thats what i was thinking. they were both the same size, so i'm sure they were from the same clutch and just got lucky

That's really cool. Do you know what kind of garter they were? I once caught an albino bluegill in a creek. I kept it in my parent's koi pond while I was deciding what to do with it, but it jumped out and died. It was insane looking.

not sure exactly, but it was still cool. they had 2 very small normal ones in the cage also, so it was cool to see the contrast.
an albino bluegill is something i have never seen before, and i imagine that was pretty sweet!

The only wild albino I ever saw, I was unable to catch as it sailed over my head in the parking lot of the local "Best Buy".
It was a big creme yellow bird with a rich orange tail - a red-tailed hawk.
Made my week.
