    New owner here, first BP

This is Nyoka, a normal Ball Python I just picked up last week. Not sure if it is a boy or girl, got it from Petsmart which wasn't the best choice in hindsight but the snake looked(and still looks) in great shape. I'll take it to a good reptile vet soon to get it sexed and checked out. Got it eating f/t every 4-5 days and so far everything is going great!

Right now my wife and I don't have much room but we're getting a new place in January(kid on the way) so I'm only using a 10 gallon terrarium right now. Going to either upgrade to a big tank or just build something myself when Nyoka gets too big for the 10 gallon tank.

Aspen bedding, a log hide that the snake loves, water dish deep enough to take a bath in, acurite digital thermomter/hygrometer and a UTH on a controller that keeps the hot side 90-95 degrees. I use a separate smaller plastic tank with newspaper bedding for feeding time.

So yeah I've fallen in love with this little snake and I hope that its just the beginning. I love animals and I hope to learn enough about these guys to have a bunch and maybe even breed them one day. Hey, go big or go home right?

Beautiful baby you have there! Is he/she at the end of their shed in the pictures, or is it normally that dark?

Nice reduced pattern to the little guy (or gal)!

How big a tank do you plan on getting... I just ask because when I went to Petco they told me a BP needed at least 120 gallon tank... just want to make sure that isn't what they told you.

Update: Stupid thing is being a pain about eating but I'll get through it, she does take f/t fuzzy mice but they're too small for her now and I'm trying to upgrade her to f/t hoppers/small mice. She'll have none of it so I'm going to leave her alone all this week and try a hopper again this weeeknd.

Oh yeah it is a "her". I popped her and saw the little white nubs and obviously no hemis.
