    scale rot:further help needed

hi.i need some advice here of clearing up the scale rot my bp has.my bp has been on baytril since 8th july.he's also been treated with pevidine scrub the same amount of time.now he's feeding/shedding ok,but i just can't get rid of the brown scales on his underbelly.i was wondering bout treating the area with betadine solution.is this a good idea? the bp is on dry paper towels.he is also still lifting the area where the scale rot is off the floor.should this scale rot have cleared up by now?

Have you had your vet re-evaluate him? I think that would be the wisest course of action. Beyond that, just continue keeping him clean and dry and following the treatment plan the vet gave you. Depending on how serious it was to begin with, it may take awhile to completely heal...but only your vet can say for sure if it's making proper progress or not.

Betadine is fine. I'd get some gauze or a soft wash cloth and make a strong betadine solution and SCRUB. Firmly but gently.

Betadine you have to wash off, chlorhexidine you don't.

if you can get some chlorhexidine soap, that would be good too(anything "soap" needs to be rinsed off).

Possibly get some Silvadene(silver sulfadiazene) from the vet. It has some antifungal properties to it as well as antibacterial, and it works wonders on wounds.
