Re: thinkin about getting a corn or king.
Both have fantastic color varieties and are very fun to care for.
However, unlike ball pythons, if you leave them alone for too long, they may become more and more difficult to handle as time goes on!
Husbandry is much easier with corn snakes and kings, so I suggest checking out a bunch caresheets on both and see which would accommodate you better.
I have a couple corns (and some more on the way) and one lives in a 20 gallon long. An adult female will need a 20 gallon long or at least a 32q tub. Males can be a bit smaller.. my small male is in a 16q tub right now.
They should have hides, but don't need as specific ones as ball pythons do. They don't have to be super tight, and log hides aren't as bad of a choice for them.
Here are my two corns. My Crimson Corn Female and my Amelanistic Corn Male.

Foliage is always an option as well, and they don't need high climbing enclosures but a bit of driftwood wouldn't hurt for shedding. :]

Re: thinkin about getting a corn or king.
i keep both my corn and my king in similar setups to my ball python... tub, UTH, hides, water bowl. Nothing fancy. I handle them all pretty much daily, except after feedings. My king was a rescue, and in bad shape when I got her, but was still exceptionally docile from day one. She's a senior citizen though, at around twelve years old. My corn is a yearling, and can be a bit nippy when she wants to be, but has been getting better with regular handling.
I love the different colors and patterns you can get with corns. Kings have some cool morphs, too, but not nearly as many. Still, I think that my next colubrid is going to be another king, and if i ever decided to breed snakes, I'd definitely go with kings.
