I am so frustrated... wish us luck please!!

    We could certainly use it.

    Okay heres what has happened.
On JUNE 30th my current lease was up, reluctantly I went to sign another lease seeing as we really aren't financially ready to move.

I called, and called and couldn't get them out here to inspect and sign the lease. Then Tuesday the rental place calls and says, Oh two things, your rent is being raised $45 and we need you to sign a year lease on Monday. UGHH.

Now I wouldn't have a problem paying $700 a month, if this place was bigger, and the management actually took care of the multiple problems with it. Bee infested, torn carpet, yard is in really bad shape (which they are responsible for).

They won't give me any time. They told me if I don't sign a new lease on Monday I roll over to month to month and they can come in and do what they need to. Including removing all of our personal belongings, including furniture I don't think so scooter.

So anyway, I paid my rent through August, just like I do every month.. I am paid until OCT. 1st. So technically they can't do anything.
So I am sending them a certified letter stating that, and that as of Sept. 1st I am giving my 30 days notice.

Now in this market, the search begins to find an actual house to rent, and not some tiny cramped apartment!

Too bad our credit is the way it is, or we'd buy a house Thanks to the jerk that had road rage and rear ended my husband, and to State Farm for well... I won't go there.

Oh its been fun rebuilding our credit, but hey at least we have $0 debt!!

Anyway, just need some positive vibes!!! Going to look at a house tomorrow morning, and another one next week!

First of all they can not do whatever they want, especially if you are paying rent. They have to go through formal eviction process to get you and/or your belonging out. They have to follow all the rules up until that point that they would for any other renter regardless if it's a lease or month-to-month.

Go to your state Consumer Affairs website and find out what your rights are as a tenant. While you are there look and see what is and is not legal for your landlord to do.

I'm not by any means telling you to let it get to the eviction process. I just want you to know that they can't just throw you and your stuff out without giving you time and options.
