Dumerils boa

I have been wanting a larger snake then balls and kings.So I was thinking about a dumerils.What do they eat as adults and can I house a adult in a 75 gallon aquarium and are they usually agressive.

Dumerils are a heavily bodied boa, but stay relatively short in length...5-6 feet being the norm. I'm not a fan of aquarium's but that size should house for a little while. They are usually not that aggressive, but like all snakes...they each can have their own unique personality.

Do they eat rebbits ad adults.

There's no need for them to eat rabbits. My females are over 3 years old now and only eating large-Xlarge rats every 2-3 weeks.

How fast do they grow.

They grow like most of the other boas, but it is easier to turn them into sausages since they really don't prowl around to much...

i dont know the dimensions of a 75 gal aquarium but a full sized dum can be housed in an enclosure thats 4' x 2' no prob.

My dumeril's boa is very pleasant natured once he's out of his enclosure. However, he is a little jumpy when you first reach for him. He's never struck at me, just tries to slither away at first.

Females tend to get larger, closer to the 7-8 ft marker, while the males stay closer to 6 ft. From what Ive read, they generally don't grow as fast as other boas, and being terrestrial and sedentary in nature, they are prone to obesity.

I got a juvenile pair and they're absolutely wonderful. Great choice for someone who wants a hefty snake, but desires something outside to "obvious" options of BCI, BCC, bloods and carpets.

IMO, a 75 gallon should do fine for an adult dums.
