Re: A few pics
Where did you get those hides? I am looking for natural rock type ones that have side openings (or anything semi-natural looking with a side opening).
Tank looks nice, I would do something with those thermometer wires though. I use paper towels under the aspen, poke the sensor though to the top and run the wires up the sides.
Also I assume the thick black sensor is the thermostat? If you are using UTH heaters you can put that under the tank. It doesn't matter what temperature it reads, you can adjust the temperature based on the in tank thermometers. Its all relative.

Got them from petlands discounts lol.. umm. Yes is the thermostat. I understand what you are saying but is weird... Because my thermometer reads 90. degrees, and on the thermostat i have it at 93, but it turns off when it reads 90 degrees.. So something is not accurate... and the temp reader thingies are right next to each other. Yes i have to do something with those wires, not sure yet.

and what do you mean to put the thermostat temp reader under the tank... Where exactly?

Well I have a cheap zoo-med theromostat and the same kind of digital thermometers. But I put my thermostat thermometer under the tank above the UTH. I adjusted it so that it reads 82 on the substrate (read by the digital thermometers), I don't know what the actual temp is on top of the UTH or what exact temp the thermostat is reading, it could be 5 degrees higher, but I only care about the temp inside the tank if that makes sense.
I think it is safe and it keeps an extra wire out of the cage (the top did not want to close properly with that huge cord going in).

Regarding the wires, I took the advice of the tank queen (Argenta) and put paper towels underneath the aspen. Its easy to see if the paper towels get stained, and makes cleaning the tank easier.
Anyways I put all the wires underneath the paper towels and rip a little hole in them to poke the thermometer heads through so the temps reflect the level she is on, and the actual temps she experiences. The wires are all hidden away and my BP can't get tangled up in them. She has never tried to burrow under the paper towel lining. It also minimizes the chance that she could burrow in the aspen and end up lying directly on the glass above the heater.
