Dimpling?
Is it common for BP eggs to dimple once they've been in the incubator a couple of days? I'm curious because my temps and humidity are PERFECT (89-90 degree's with 99% humidity). However the eggs are all starting to get little dimples in them. I recandled tonight and they all still look to be fertile. Is this normal or should I be worried?
Thanks,
Matt

Re: Dimpling?
It's normal in the last few weeks of incubation, but not early on. Your incubation medium may be too dry. What are you using? With hatchrite (what I use) I add a bit of water to the corners of the egg box if they start to dimple too early.

Re: Dimpling?
Right now i'm using vermic, but I got two bags of Hatchrite on the way, because I heard it was so good. I'll try what you said though and add water to the edges of my box and see if that helps.

Not a lot of water, about a TBS in each corner is what I did. Don't do anything until you see how the hatchrite does for you though.

Re: Dimpling?
i used vermic as well and noticed that when it gets to dry it will steal moisture from the eggs. so if you take out the eggs and add a bit more water and mix it well then everything should be ok. just dont put too much water though.

Re: Dimpling?
Yeah I took out the eggs, re-added water, made sure there wasn't to much water, and then put the eggs back in. The eggs seemed to have softened back up a bit, however the dimples are still there. They continue to candle well, so hopefully they will be ok.
Thanks for all the advice,
Matt
