Isis sort of ate on her own.... (the snake you guys all helped me with!)

She's been in her new set up for a couple weeks now. I assist fed her a few days after she was in her set up (jpman78 request). She had lost a few more grams and was looking awful. So a week went by and I tried to feed her again last night. She seemed interested, but really weak. She barely moved her tounge and just laid there. So, I tried to assist feed her again. She spit it out twice!! It was so frustrating!!! I just said forget it, and left the torn open F/T pinky in the tub.

I looked in the tub this morning and it's gone!!!

This snake is really proving to be a pain in my rear!! My female rat is due in the next couple weeks so hopefully feeding time goes easier with those little guys.

    Great News!

Sometimes they will eat f/t just off the cage floor. I always leave them in overnight to see if they will pick it up and eat it later and alot of times they do.

    Hope it keeps up!

I wasn't sure if she would because she has been so gosh dang picky! I left it on the heated side, not sure if that matters

Question Re: Isis sort of ate on her own.... (the snake you guys all helped me with!)

I m sorry to bust in the thread but I have a related question...is it ok to leave a FT in the tank overnight if the BP doesn't eat right away?

AND good luck with ISIS...i think patience is a virtue for all pet owners and your's is showing through :-)

Re: Isis sort of ate on her own.... (the snake you guys all helped me with!)

    Hi,

Congrats on getting her eating on her own.

And yes it is ok to leave F/T in overnight - though I tend not to leave it on the hot end.

If it is still there in the morning I take it out and throw it away - definately do not chance re-freezing it after that length of time.

My fattbutt is so nervous that offering her food can scare her out of being hungry even after all these years - but if I wave it near the opening to whichever hide she's in it lets her know it's there and then I can just leave it lying in the cool end.

Re: Isis sort of ate on her own.... (the snake you guys all helped me with!)

Dr. Del is right....it is perfectly ok to leave a f/t in overnight. In fact it works sometimes when a live rodent or tong feeding doesn't.

Some of my f/t eatters while in blue won't strike and wrap.....so sure enough if I leave the f/t in their hide with them the next morning it's gone.

Definitely a tactic that's helpful and worth trying!
