popping or probing?
I am interested in learning to pop but was wondering how many on here pop and who probes. Also how many do both. I want to try to pop my male but am afraid I may hurt him I have seen adams video on popping but I guess I will have to have someone show me.

I pop the little ones, and probe the larger ones. You should have someone show you both techniques before attempting them. You could hurt them if you did it incorrectly.

Popping is actually not that difficult once you learn to do it. I was taught not too long ago by Heather. I'm sure she wouldn't mind showing you next time you see her and there is a snake handy

Re: popping or probing?
Hope you don't mind if I hi-jack your thread since it is a very similar question.
How many of you believe that popping can be dangerous to the snake, such as if the snake is too big and/or old? Does it depend on the species?
At first I had heard that only hatchlings could be popped, and this was when speaking about ball pythons. Then someone told me that, at least in theory, any size and age snake could be popped, the only issue is that really big snakes would just be physically impossible for human hands. I have believed that I've read people here on bp.net talk about popping their snakes including adults, but my memory is not clear enough to be sure if the word popping was used or if I just assumed that was the method being used.
Now, I have once again been told that popping adult snakes is dangerous. This time it was on a cornsnake forum, so it may be a species specific thing. It seemed to be a widely held belief there.
So, can BPs of any size and age be popped safely? What about other snakes?
