GTP Defecation question
Hi all, my little Merauke GTP is about 8 months old. He/she eats very well every 7 days but has not defecated since 5/30 (also shed at this time). So he/she has eaten 3 mouse fuzzies now with no poop. Should I be concerned? Should I refrain from feeding until after the next defecation? Thanks.
My Daughters name all the animals...
0.1 BP - Normal (Seviper)
0.1 RTB - Normal BCI (Ekans)
0.0.1 GTP - Merauke (Carnivine)
0.1 RTB - Suriname BCC (Sand Ma'am...a.k.a. Sandy)
0.1 RTB - Anery BCI (Onix)

Re: GTP Defecation question
You might want to wait a couple weeks for the next feeding. In the mean time, you can try a few things to get things "moving" such as a lukewarm shower in the sink for 10 minutes and taking her out to get some exercise.
GTP's are more prone to constipation for some reason, but one thing that seems to help is to keep them active and to make sure their environment is humid. I started misting twice a day instead of just once and it really seemed to help.
Good luck!

Thanks, I have been trying not to handle it due to its young age and the possibility of kinks. I was told to try to avoid handling for the first year. What do you think of that advice? I could try misting more though...

Yes, you want to be very careful that first year. You can try to gently lift her from the perch, but if she's a grabber you can also move the perches around. Mine seems to prefer the top level so I will move it down to the bottom and let her crawl up on her own.
