    Colubrid How-To's?

Hey guys. I got my first ball python about a month and a half back, and I'm loving him, but I've been poking around the forums and find myself being attracted to a lot of the other species I see, and am looking into expanding my petopia a bit. But I noticed that there isn't really any sort of caresheet, husbandry tips, or general information regarding Colubrids in any of the forums. So I was wondering if anyone could possibly write up some of the helpful stickies that you see in the BP forum and possibly have an admin sticky them here? I'm sure a lot of people would appreciate it, because no doubt there'll be someone else to come along trying to find information.

    Just an idea. Thanks guys.

there are caresheets for specific species of colubrids... but since they have specific needs, they can't really be lumped together on one caresheet.

Yep, depends on which type of colubrid you're looking for. There are plenty of great care sheets here and on the web for all of them.

I didn't see one for king snakes or milksnakes on there, the one I was really into was http://www.anapsid.org/king.html. It had most of the information I was looking for on it.

    Re: Colubrid How-To's?

Oh wow, I never even noticed that there was a caresheet section on the left. Bah, useless thread. Sorry guys. And thanks for that link, ev477. I'm looking into getting a Mexican Black King, and I'm assuming that most of the care required for one type of king is basically the same for the rest?

    Re: Colubrid How-To's?

You're welcome, glad I could help. I've found a bunch of different care sheets that say pretty much the same thing, plus or minus 5 degrees or 5% humidity, I'd guess it's all relatively similar, but don't take me for being 100% on that

Y'know what we DONT have is a caresheet for Black Milk Snakes which have different temperature needs and get considerably larger than other milks.

I vote for one of those next. And yes, I'm biased - I own one.

There are a lot of colubrids out there - maybe we can get some knowledgeable owners to start submitting some of their own?

Someone recently posted some very good information on subocs, and in the past people have posted information on house snakes, gopher snakes, etc. Putting that information into a caresheet format would be great.

I'd readily make a WHS one! Where could I post the caresheet?
