    Hide with hole in top...

Just wondering if anyone puts the hole for your BPs hide on the top instead of the side?

    Any reason for this?

    Thanks.

I know 1 reason is so the live rats/mice dont scare the poo outta your snake when they charge in the side hole.. A top hole limits this situation... Other than that... no clue

Hmm that makes since. but i remove his hides and water bowl when i feed.

It seems to me that it would be harder for them to find the entrance/exit.

Re: Hide with hole in top...

Both of my hides have a whole on the top, and actually... I don't know why I put it there in the first place, I think I saw a hide like that on a picture and I liked it. My bp seems to like it as well. I always feed my bp in his enclosure and I never remove anything, my little guy likes to ambush the mouse from the top of the hide... once, he ate a mouse with half his body inside the hide and half his body outside the hide, LOL...

Re: Hide with hole in top...

All of my freedom breeder hides have holes in the top. It seemed to work better for one of my super shy snakes years ago.

The only problem I've had is for a few of my snakes that feed out of the hide. I get stuck waiting for them to uncoil (or move them slightly) so that I can close the rack tub.

Re: Hide with hole in top...

I mostly put holes in the top to make it more like going down into the ground for the snake.
I have no evidence to indicate that the snakes have a preference.
