    Unhappy Update on my rescue

So I had to help with her shed. It was "ugly" but I had managed to get all her shed done with the soaking and the misting. That was last week. Now she Has blue eyes again!!!
Just a update thet I have rescued her from a store and she had the worst mites ever.. They are gone but the sores are still there. Lost scales and has scale rot.

I mannaged to get her to eat a small mouse. I had to force feed. She has been drinking well and I was happy to see her drink and finish the feed when I started it. But another shed??!! Good grief.

I feel sooo sorry for her..

    Re: Update on my rescue

You will probably find her doing the back-to-back sheds until the sores and scale rot are healed.

We rescued a ball python 2 years ago that had a ventral burn from the middle of her body all the way to her tail. She would finish one shed and start another within a week or so the whole time she was healing.

Just keep doing what you're doing and I'm sure all will be fine. It's worth it in the end!

    Re: Update on my rescue

I have seen similar. If you get a snake that has been very stressed, not eating, and has damaged skin... once you correct the husbandry and get them eating with consistency you will get a few back to back sheds, but slowly they will taper off and she/he will assume a more normal schedule.

Even the rate of shedding... from turning blue to sloughing their skin seems to be advanced... a few days vs. a week.

    Re: Update on my rescue

Thanks, It has been rough seeing her like this. She is so weak she can hardly raise her head. She shakes as she tries to. The rot has a bad smell and she seems so sad. I just wish I could take it all away from her and make her better now!
Tomorrow is another vet visit to see how she is doing.
I hope things work out fast for her..

    Re: Update on my rescue

I'm sorry it turned out this way and you did all you could and the vet did all he could and Lucky did all he could; there was just too much maltreatment going on before your rescue.
    I'm very sorry

    Re: Update on my rescue

I'm sorry to hear that, you did all you could, as did lucky and the vet. Don't beat yourself up to much, most stores and 99% breeders care for the snakes properly, but I feel for the snakes who go to the few who don't. My sympathys go out to you.
    RIP Lucky
