Some Q's about Veiled Chameleons

Hi, I'm Bobby J and I've been on this site kinda a lurker I guess. Might I add there is so much information here its amazing... First off im a proud owner to a 1 year old Ball and 2 leopard geckos. My main question is about Veiled Chameleons. I'm from central illinois and am having a hard time locating any, found some at reptile exibits but the people just couldn't provide much if any information about them. Would anyone know where I might be able to find any?

has anyone every (im sure there are) ordered any reptiles and had them shipped? How do they ship live animals, and wouldnt the shipping stress them out?

i don't know if i'd really want a chameleon shipped... at least, not if it's your first time keeping one. stress is a huge killer of chams. that said, veileds are pretty easy to keep. i'd look on kingsnake.com and just pop up to any reptile show in your area. there is at least one breeder in kalamazoo (southwest michigan) that has them from time to time and at least one more a little north of here. if all else fails, i can almost guarantee someone will have them at NARBC in tinley in october... should give you plenty of time to read up on their care if you haven't already. good luck!

I don't recall the woman's name, but at the All Animal Expo (www.allanimalexpo.com) in Wheaton, there is usually a woman there that breeds chameleons.

You may want to check her out. I've never owned a chameleon, but I have seen her animals at the show many times and they look nice, healthy...etc.

With the current gas prices, not all of the vendors are at every show now (and the summer is usually slower for sales anyway) so I would contact her first to see if she is going to be at the show before you make the trip. She may also be able to give you some better information.

Thank you guys for the response and the information, this should help out a ton.... And as soon as I get my cam working ill be sure to post pics of my current babies, and hopefully in the future a beautiful veiled chameleon... thank you again
