    Re: Tank Size

So do you think that 12 inches wide it's ok?
But how do you insulate a glass tank?

Rigid insulation, foam board, cork board, etc. Whatever is appropriate for where you live.

    Re: Tank Size

12 width should be fine. If you ever have a chance to get something a bit wider and shorter, like a display cage (which are great), then do so, but for now that tank you have is ok.

Insulating a tank is as easy as using foil tape (used for heating ducts and found in home improvement stores) to tape an insulating material from cork board to insulation foam board onto the back and sides of your tank. Give me a few minutes and I'll post some pictures.

I think if you're in a cold place I would also set it on a piece of insulation; unless you're heating with a UTH of course!

    Re: Tank Size

Ok, here are the different methods of insulation:

Cork board (sold for pinup boards usually) Works well for my corn snake tanks since they don't need as much heat as BPs:

And a closeup of one side:

Foam board (home insulation material) The preferred material for BP tanks:

And, just to show what it looks like, the felt insulation I use on my tubs: (self-stick felt)

    Hope that helps.
