    Feeding help:/

    I am new to the sit and just wanted to say what an awesome idea.
    Ok today i just bought a ball python it is 18 inches long or so and i am not sure of weight i was just wondering if it was ok to feed it little mice all ready ? i bought it from a pet store and none of them seemed like they knew what they were talking about i have owned a 4 foot ball python before and that was easy but i am not sure on this little guy on when and what to feed him.. i will have pics up tomorrow

    Leave it alone for a week, without handling, only doing enclosure maintainance as needed. After a week feed appropriate sized feeder, which should be about as big around as your snake. Length really doesnt mean anything, it is all girth.

    Congrats on your snake and welcome to the forum!! Your snake sounds like he's a pretty little guy and so I'm thinking that an adult mouse might be too much! A picture and/or weight and/or age would help!
    Pet stores can be very frustrating and I don't doubt that you received little real information. I would suggest paper towels as a substrate for now until you can rule out the possibility that your little guy has mites. Mites are common on pet store snakes
    I would also let him settle into his new environment a bit before you attempt to feed.
