I have heard that it is better to offer just one prey at feeding time. Also, I believe that rats (ASF rats) are their natural diet so maybe rats are better...?
However, I know tons of forum members serve mice to their very healthy snakes and so I might need to go and hide under my table now!!
My opinion? Choose what is best for you since your snakes are non-discriminatory....!

One is not better than the other gram per gram it is all the same.

The most important is to feed what works for your BP and what is convininet for you.

Personally I like feeding rats because I rather feed one prey than 3 or 4 however not all my BP agree with me so I do feed mice for those who refuse rats (4 out of 21 BP are mousers)

So if you want to switch to rat and it work with your BP go for it, if you like feeding mice better than it’s ok too.

Thankx everyone also i think mice are not as crazy and arent as strong with the bite if my snake misses the head and they dont go crazy when i hold them with the tongs so i just feel better feeding mice even tho its more feeding, i just think it works better thankx for the input

I want to believe that feeding 1 large is better than multiples of smaller, but I recently read that in the wild BPs will raid a nest and thus kill and eat multiple rodents at once... so maybe it isn't so bad to feed multiples.

I have one BP who will take rats and one who refuses... We are raising our own mice for the one BP and our corns, but I buy our rats frozen from the mouse factory and am very pleased with them!

    Re: 2,mice1 rat?

Mine are on FT rats, but the picky babies/subadults are eating live. Im temporarily out of live rats the right size, so they've gotten mice, but it's cheaper for me to feed rat pups/weanlings (when I have them). I have one adult male who just stopped a fast with live mice, the last two weeks. (darn it!)

Just be careful. I understand that switching back and forth may cause the snake to stop eating---balls being imprint feeders. I know my ball pythons are all much pickier than my boas or corns or the other species I have. Only one of mine will eat anything FT you put in front of her nose. Everybody else is specific to what they'll eat--VERY finicky
