I guess it is normal, but I have never given any of my snakes a bath. They may have recieved a soaking if they had a severly stuck sheb, but overall, they are very clean animals without baths. Snakes scales are very slick for the most part, and dirt does not collect on snakes in any amount to consider them dirty.

Well, snakes will always drink the water when they are first put in to soak. Thats why if you ever give medicinal baths, to always give them fresh clean water first to let them drink. I also wonder why you gave him a bath?

I gave him a bath because my grandfather doesnt mist him very much. I have also heard giving a soak will help with shead and relaxing them so theyll poop. I dont have him in a bath tub I just have him in a 96qt tub with about 1in. 2in of water.

    Re: Help-BP 1st Bath

i give my BP the occasional bath b/c i work in a pet store and she get's handled by a few other people than me normally, so it's just to make sure nothing nasty came off the other people's hands. and if he just sat there and soaked, it probably means he was relaxed, which is a good thing.

I rinse my snakes off if they have created art work with their poo or if they've laid in their pee. I simply hold them and rinse them off with water. I've never bathed my snakes... I wonder if they don't enjoy a swim in the wild every now and again? Some royals do live in the mangroves....

    Re: Help-BP 1st Bath

I give my snake a nice warm bath and thats where she does her pooping. She sits in water roughly 2 inches deep and just relaxes then poops and I let her swim back and forth for a min or two. I take her out and put her in a warm towel to dry her off and then she just sits in the towel and relaxes and slithers out when she wants too.
