I'm no pro, but based on, well, pretty much what I think I guess, and research, I would say handling them frequently would avoid poor muscle tone more than anything. Of course I'm sure genetics can probably have alot to do with it too. But my instincts, and research, tell me that handling them is healthy mentally and physically.
So I think as long as they are at home enough in their enclosure to get atleast a little activity in there, and activity from you, they should be reasonably healthy and in turn, yes, maybe a little tone and muscley too!
