Re: BHB and Monitor Lizards
I didn't even wonder. From the looks of his facility, the commitment it must take to run it and the health if his reptiles I took it for granted that the largest specimens were in those bins strictly for feeding. Since he may be leaving them there for a couple days for digestion etc hence the substrate and water bowl.
I never thought of that

I totally agree with this statement, I can assure you Brians & Loris animals are as healthy as they get, I have 5 in the collection already, and will have more than that once Daytona rolls around. Every animal I have gotten from him fed immediately without any hesitation, and come perfectly healthy. As he said in the show it was for "feeding purposes only" and I believe I even heard they do the same thing with the Burms and Retics, its just the way they do things, and from the success he has had the the quality of animals they produce, who is anyone to argue with that?
Custom reptile and amphibian enclosures! As well as other custom wood working.

Been in that room personally... never once saw a monitor in that bin. Coincidence? I think not.

Re: BHB and Monitor Lizards
I am very interested in this.
I have never known of a monitor keeper moving their large varanids into a tub to feed. How is this done properly and for what reasons? How is the safety of the keeper and monitor maintained?
I would also like to see some pictures or video of the actual cages that the monitors are kept in. I think it would be great to see how BHB keeps their monitors. I enjoy seeing how commercial reptile breeders house their monitors. NERD has some unique custom caging and success with breeding several monitor species. Other monitor 'breeders' like Goanna Ranch, Rare Earth, Inc. and Pro-Exotics have long-time proven systems that are unique in their own right.
Just wondering what advance/progress BHB has made in varanid husbandry and housing. How is the albino sav project going?

Re: BHB and Monitor Lizards
Well, I just emailed them, I'm hoping to get a response. Once I do I'll see if they sent pics. I used my original question but I changed it around a bit.

don't mean to bash your post or anything just thought i correct would add something about Pro Exotics. According to thier site they purchase farm bred moniters. The only time i saw that they said they were breeding was ackies, and tree moniters just my 2cents
