    Debate

Hi, well its only 30 days until my birthday and I'm still having trouble on which snake I should get. Well, I really want a dumeril ever since I held one at a local reptile shop in South Carolina when I was vacationing 2 years ago. I'm wondering if this snake is an okay snake for me to get. Also, how much do these usually cost at shows? I've seen them on the internet for like 100-175 bucks.

they are great snakes but keep in mind they will get big they usually have a great disposition. If you want to get one i'd check with your local herp society to see if they have any adoptions available.

I know right now, dumerils are all over kingsnake classifieds. They range mostly from $120-150ish, and at shows, its probably gonna be similar. I love our dumeril's; they're awesome. Like Thor said, they're on the bigger side; females about 7-8 ft with males rarely getting past 6 ft.

    Re: Debate

I added to my collection a baby female dumeril's ground boa about 2 months ago and am loving her! Luckily for me, since it's not uncommon to hear of baby dum's being difficult eaters, she feeds on live mice hoppers generally without any issues. They're slow growers with a slower metabolism, and I'm enjoying the whole process of raising as a baby, but at the same time I can't wait until the day she reaches full adult length and size! As mentioned by another member, they're very laid back and docile - I find even more so than my ball python! Good luck to you with whatever you end up deciding to acquire!

    local herp society
    Sorry but, HA HA HA
That cracks me up everytime I tell somebody that I collect herps, they're like "EWW... You have herpes!!!"
I don't have a local herp society, basically I'm the only person in my town that keeps reptiles.
