    Question about quarantining across species

This weekend we might be getting a corn snake for my 10 yr old. We already have a BP, and want to be sure the BP remains safe from anything we might possibly introduce.

I know general quarantine procedures, and it won't be hard since the corn is going to live in my daughter's bedroom, so it won't be very close to the BP. I think the only thing we need that we don't already have is another pair of feeding tongs.

My real question is how long do we need to wait before something like a photo with both of them in it would be ok? Since the corn isn't even a boid and therefore can't (I think?) carry IBD, does that lower the amount of time needed?

It's not only IBD you need to worry about.

Crypto is an issue that spans across species, as well as several others.

Stick to your quarantine procedures as planned.

Oh, don't worry. We ARE quarantining. The only question is how long.

I thought that the longer end (like 6 months) of quarantine recommendations was because of the way IBD doesn't always show up immediately. So I thought with the new snake being the corn which I think can't carry IBD, a more moderate time like 60 or 90 days might be enough.

We definitely don't want to risk anything getting our BP sick.

But can't boas be carriers of IBD without ever showing signs? How can you ever know if it's ok? (not to hijack hehe)
