Re: What are good investments right now?

I do agree When I read your first posting in this thread I was confused by how it was worded just like everyone else here. I have read the whole thread and really do not see anyone attacking you or your knowledge... Only people asking for you to clarify your post.
I have not met anyone on here that was mean or hateful. I think you might want to lower your guard a little so you don't assume that we are attacking you. As for being a woman we all respect women here and do not any anyway think they do not know as much or even more than us.

Also, even if both parents are het for albino, the offspring will only be 50% het (25% normal and 25% albino)
So unless you get some albinos in the clutch, you won't be able to say at all if the others are het for albino or not. I guess if the dad gets proven out by one of the clutches, then you can at least say the offspring are 50% het.

I was so confused from your first post! lol

You have some ambitious plans on some awesome project. They are projects that I'm working on as well...

If I can make a suggestion that is in line with several other's suggestions, breed your pied poss het albino to an albino female or at least a het albino female. That way, if you don't produce albinos from the pairing you can be reasonably certain that your pied is not het albino.

Currently when you use your current pairing and do not produce albinos, you will not know which of the parents is not a het and that makes it a LOT harder to make informed decisions and also sell any of the offspring.

    I hope this is helpful.

    Agreed on all accounts!

Glad to see you fell in love with Ball pythons just as everyone else here

I too was confused by your first posts, scratching my head, but it seems things have been sorted out so far. No reason to get upset and defensive. The attitude in posts will make things harder.

I agree with blueapplepaste, at this juncture, buy what YOU want to see the most because nothing is guaranteed with live animals and you may come out with some nice normal animals with very low % of heritage, but down several thousand by the time you produce a homozygous animal. It's always safe to buy either visible or 100% from a respected breeder.

I have a college degree too! Welcome to the club.

As for investments, I would go with what you want to produce. Plain and simple. Everything else is a moot point. Even the money.

Re: What are good investments right now?

If you have a homo. pied male, why are you selling your het female and breeding the male to normal girls you don't have yet. Since you are planning to hold back the het babies to breed to the dad, why sell the only animal you have that can put yourself years ahead of your current plan to produce pieds, seeing that you aren't likely to produce any albino pieds with your current method?

Actually, if both parents are Het for albino, the offspring that appear normal will be 66% Poss. Het for Albino. I just wanted to clarify that for anyone that may read through this thread at a later date.
