Morph Advice Needed.

Hello All,
I had a question on morphs I would like to get a young ball morph but I am unsure which to get. I would like to breed down the line and was wondering what all of you thought would be a good morph to start with?

I think albino is always be good because of the different morphs you can create from it or perhaps a yellow belly for ivory or a spider? I can only keep so many snakes and would like to always keep my first as a pet first breeder second. Should it be male or female or does that matter any advice those with more experience could give is certain welcome. Thank you so much for the input and replies it is much appreciated.

Well i always say go with what you like to look at everyday .It has to be something you love looking at for 20+yrs or it will become a burden to your eyes if you dont like it after awhile.

I second the above advice...and in all honesty, BP's are like potato chips...you start with one and you're gonna come back for more

Get something that really grabs you, that way you can always say "that was my first BP". Then you can worry about all the morphs later.

A lot of it depends on what you plan on spending and what level of skill you have.

A good starter for the total beginner who is considering breeding down the road is a Normal Female. Females take the longest to get to breeding weight, so if get a female now in 2-4 years she should be at a healthy weight for breeding. Males only take a year maybe two to get them to a healthy breeding weight and generally after about 1 year their instinct will kick in enough for them to know how to breed.

Our first BP was a normal male. Even though we now have several expensive morphs, he will always hold a special place in our collection and we try to always keep him front and center!

If you have experience and know how to take care of a ball python then you can play with the morphs. If you have enough money to spend a Female or Male Bumble Bee is a great choice. You gain a dominate Morph gene (Spider) and a Co-dom (Pastel) all in one neat little package, not to mention they are awesome looking pets in and of themselves! If you don't have that kind of money to fork out look for a Pastel if you have your heart set on a morph. I really like the Lemon Pastel by NERD, but our Cinnamon pastel has grown on me as well.
