    Post pics of your incubators...please!

I am on the prowl for an incubator (the lab one I found at a steal was 1300lbs, so I couldn't get it), and I need some ideas. Anyone ever turn a wine cooler into one? I was thinking about building one, too.

So, please post away! Please include descriptions if necessary and multiple angle pics...thanks!

I started a write up but haven't finished it yet (it is just basically a box with hinged doors - then I added one of those closet organizers inside for boxes to go on). As for price it wasn't too bad...maybe $50-$75 in materials and then the heating equipment (Thermostat and Heat tape and reflectix = $140)

If you have any specific questions I would be more than happy to help.

    Hey Dangerous,

That's too bad that you couldn't get the one that you posted. Here's some pics of the one that you you saw in one of my other posts.

This is a freezer that I picked up from a commercial refridgerator repair company. I removed the compressor unit that was on top, this one came off in almost one peice and took it to a recycling center. Filled the intake and exhaust with fiberglass insulation.
Cut the window out with a reciprocating saw, installed 1/4 plexiglas on the inside and outside, silicone caulked the inside.

Installed the flex tape and fans, the flex tape and one fan are plugged into the t-stat, the other fan is wired to a rheostat and is always on as low as the rheo will go. The light is on a switch and is not left on as it generates too much heat.

Still have to neaten up the wire runs, wire ties and those sticky pads they make for the ties to go through work great.

Cueball posted a detailed description on a smaller unit in another post, this is basically the same thing, only bigger.

It's not to difficult, if you have any questions, post them or send a pm.

You can see the front door of mine inbetween the built in racks. I will see if I can get more pictures of it when I get home as we have decided to move it someplace else in the room and add another sweater box 4 rack. I will not be home for a week or so though. It is a GQF 1250R that I modified to use three Ranco T-stats for temp control and emergency back ups.
