    Re: Emergency clutch!!!!

    Hi, WellyBelly!

I used to incubate colubrid eggs in a fishtank - just a tank (in this case, with a layer of foam insulation on three sides and the bottom) 1/3 filled with water. I had a submersible aquarium heater in the water, with the eggs in a shoebox above water level. Vermiculite under the eggs, of course. Low tech, but it worked for corns, kings and pine snakes!

    Don't know about pythons . . .

    Good luck!

~Bruce (Who tends to agree with other posters - if you can maintain temps and humidity in her enclosure, you should probably let the mommasnake take care of her eggs. They've managed the job for the last 70 million years or so . . .)

    Re: Emergency clutch!!!!

    Hi,

I used a fishtank covered on all sides and lidded with 2" thick polystyrene for a ball python clutch last year. There are some pictures of it in my gallery if it helps.

I used the aquarium heater in about half a tank full of water and it kept the temps and humidity fine.

The cooler idea does sound a little more scientific and controlable though.

    Re: Emergency clutch!!!!

I wouldnt mess with them, if its been a few days you could risk hurting the eggs. Let the mom do her thing! She can do it just as well if not better than a incubator, so far alot of people who do maternal incubation get a 100% hatch rate

Come here little guy. You're awfully cute and fluffy but unfortunately for you, you're made of meat

Yeah I am going to let her do her own thing. When should I expect a hatch date so I can keep an eye on everything?

    Re: Emergency clutch!!!!

It usually takes 55 days for BP eggs to incubate, so just subtract from that and you should have a ball-park idea anyway.

    Re: Emergency clutch!!!!

Ok so I got a incubator on loan from a local breeder and I have substrate and everything. I am warming the bator up as we speak. What is the best way to get mom off her eggs and to get the eggs into the tub without damaging them.
