    Re: Ack! My computer died!

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it could possibly maybe probably be a CPU failure....

I built my own computer a few months ago and was amazed at how easy it really was.

Open up your box, find the CPU, and then search on ebay for the same one and buy it for a few bucks. Installing it is quite simple. There are a ton of websites with great "how-to" documentation.

When I restart it, it starts the "CPU failed!" over and over again and no other sound comes up. Nothing comes up on the screen as well.

What? you're balls nuts! yeah, CPUs are 100-300 bucks, but they are SUPER easy to replace. Pull the lever, pop in cpu (only one way it can go), put on heat sync and done.

Of course, i've built computers all my life, so it's super simple for me. I tell people how to fix their garage door openers over the phone and you'd be amazed at how many people can't program a remote.

That's not really a good sign. I've never actually seen this error, and have had several CPUs fail on me. Take it apart, piece by piece and clean that sucker out! Like I stated a minute ago, your cpu is simple to replace, and in fact, nothing in a computer is very expensive anymore. Well, video cards can get very, very expensive, but that's not your problem.

Nuts? CPUs are extremely fragile and unless you know what your doing or are super careful its not hard to misalign, or put too much pressure and break the pins. You also need the right amount of heat paste. Too much and you will fry the CPU.

I have built several computers my self and to me CPUs are not something for amateurs to be trying in my honest opinion.

I think I'll just get rid of it. I've waisted MANY years on the computer just sitting. With my addicitive personality, I can get very e-couch potato'd. Haha I get too addicted to MMO's and when SWG came out (and was still good before the CU) I'd spend my vacation time on that game and would play for upto 32 hours straight!!! Plus 'cause of it, it uses up a fair amount of electricity and damn the availability to buy ANYTHING you want with the touch of a few buttons!

Haha if I did, you'd have a huge death, black, thrash and grindcore MP3 collection! I'll just give it to one of my friends though.
