i just watched my 2 rats breed for their first time and its also the first time ive seen it. it took nearly 30 minutes for "max" to finally get it right. i believe he got the job done because the last time he tried he got "in" her and after that they both calmed down. some may find it gross but i found it very interesting...

can a male rat ejaculate in a second or two? what are the odds of her being pregnant? she is clearly in heat but im not sure if he really got the job done or not

male rats are NOT known for their staying power so yes he can get her pregnant in about 2 seconds.

You will most likely see many sessions of the male rat spazzing for about 2-3 seconds. Then she runs off and he cleans himself. Then after a few minutes they start all over again. Yes, they can get pregnant.
