To keep food from being thrown every where I used a relativly flat tubberware container and cut a hole in the middle of the lid, about 1 and a half inches in diameter. Just enough they can reach in and eat.
Now when you put the food in the cage do you jsut use a ceramic bowl? or something else? Neither in my case they are in a rack and eat through the hardware cloth, which ultimately means less food wasted.
