The only visual morph I can think of in that range is a male Pastel. If you get really lucky and find a breeder that is knocking about 25% or more off the price you may find a Male Spider or a Yellow belly male, but I would be leary of anyone selling a morph at those kinds of discounts. We just paid $750 for a het VPI Axanthic Female and $300 for a Male Het VPI Snow. Both of these look like normals, but are hiding recessive genes. Ball Python Morphs are pretty expensive. You have to remember to breed a morph the breeder has 2 years of time invested raising the parents. Then the parents are only making 6-8 babies up to a max of 12 or so for top female breeders. When dealing with recessive traits if both parents are Hets only 25% of the offspring will actually have the visual morph traits. Feeding an adult Ball Python costs about $40 a month multiplied by 12 months and 2 adults your looking at about $760.00 just to take care of the parents. This is why most morphs are so expensive. Also this is why most breeders of snakes end up being breeders of rodents as well. The Pastel, Spider, and Yellowbelly are on the low end becouse they are dominate or Co-dominate traits relatively easy to reproduce in large quantities. This is why the rare morphs are so expensive! This is also why a lot of people who try starting a business in breeding fail, they don't realize the hidden costs. (and the cost isn't restricted to just Ball Pythons) I have a lot of respect for the breeders that are making it and I hope to join that club one day. My wife and I have probably close to 10 grand into our snakes already and we will probably not be producing viable selling stock for 2 to 3 years, but we came into it with our eyes open.

Here is a picture of a Male Pastel.

I think you could get a
spider, pastel, mojave, cinamon for around that much, look around there are many breeders in the Tri State area.

In that price range I like Cinnamons, pastels and a male spider if you can get a deal at a show.

I agree. You could pick up males in any that Raul has listed and also a female pastel and maybe even a fairly nice female mojave. My feeling is that you might do better working with a breeder for your snake. I think pick-ups at shows can turn out to be tricky...

Re: Lookin for the best morph to purchase that looks the best for around 400 dollars.

I have seen male spiders for $400-450 recently at shows.

You MAY be able to find a male albino for around $600-650'ish

Or you can pick up a nice female pastel this year $200-250 range

next year buy a male spider , wait a year or 2 and make your own spders , pastels and possably Bees

Just got back from the Hamburg show and picked up a nice male spider for $320. Also say female pastels for as low as 250. Cinny's and Mojo's will still top out the 400 price range. Just have to shop around and ask plenty of questions.

    good luck
