Nick, it's pressed pine pellets - also known as Woody Pet or Equine Fresh - and I believe even there's a cat litter that's also a pine pellet being marketed now. When it gets wet, it breaks down into a very fine sawdust type of bedding.

Kara uses Woody Pet, I just picked up a bag of Equine Fresh from Deborah that she got at a feed store.

Equine fresh is a great bedding, a little goes a long way, so far it is the best bedding I found. It is very absorbent which = less odors. I used to clean every 3 to 4 days before (especially with mice) now it is every 7 to 9 days.

You can find Equine fresh at the tractor supply around here a 40 lbs bag cost $6.25.
