The bumblebee scale

I have spoken to a couple breeders in Europe about Bumblebee's which i personally think is one of the best looking morphs!

I have come across the fact that a few of these breeders have their snakes on a scale of 1 -5 (5 being the best and most expensive)

Can any of you explain to me the difference between an Bumblebee scale 1 and a scale 5 - is it something to do with the colour and markings??

Pics would be helpfull just so i can get an idea of the difference.

I think we all as individuals have certain things we look for in animals. When we become breeders I think we try to grade our animals based on what we like. So to put a grading scale on an animal is complete preference and purely subjective. Buy an animal that fits your budjet and makes you go WOW...you can't go wrong...

When I look at bumblebees what does it for me is an interesting head pattern, bright yellows and lots of contrast between the yellow and black. An interesting pattern from the spider gene is also something I look for as I like busy bumblebees.

Whenever you buy a snake shop the individual snake and not the "grade" of an animal.

yup we all like something diffrent. i love reduced pattern spiders and birght pastels that wont fade and i want that to cross over into the bumblebees i make or buy. high or low white sides dont bother me but the reduced pattern and color are the bigest things

I would say it's how clean and bright of a pastel and how reduced of a spider pattern and amount of white belly. These all will vary.

Although I haven't been around bumblebees much anywhere, I've never heard of any kind of grading... It's possible somewhere in central Europe they might use something, but I've haven't come accross them.

Clean, clean, clean! Bright and clean is what I look for.

The bright and clean will sell for the most - They are graded individually just like Pastels...IMO - Every snake is graded individually - When you buy a snake don't you look for the best looking example of that particular morph? I know I do...

Thanks for that - my problem is that i'm in the Canary islands and we quite literally only have access to Normals and maybe an albino if your lucky. So to get any other morphs then i have to look elsewhere. The breeders are in the UK and in Sweden so i can't go and see of the available animals. I only have the pics sent to me to go by. I try to go by these pics when i comes to my choice but i am also aware that sometimes pictures don't do the BP justice and can be alot more vibrant in real life.

I just wanted to know if there was somehting i was missing or i should look for in particular - but i think i already have a few favs out of the ones that are available.

I will post a pic or two for you all when i finally make up my mind!! - which i could have them all!

I've found Swedish and UK animals expensive compared to German ones. Try if you can find some from there, they are likely cheaper there.

Here's a good place to look for snakes, especially before September. That's a market place for Europe's largest reptile expo.
