Technically no. Physically yes. He had tons and tons of energy, but almost no technique. Sloppy side control, no attempt what so ever at mount, no hip control, and a flurry of hammer punches on a fresh fighter isnt going to knock him out. He got a lousy call with that point deduction, but the ankle lock was a noob mistake. In fact, when you are learning BJJ and performing a leg lock, they have your opponent leave himself open in the same manor. it was dynamic to say the least. Im looking forward to see what he does in the future. He has had better fights.

I agree Noel. He was being a bulldozer, and not using teqhnique.

Well... He way way more technical than I was expecting, so I do give him credit there.... I was thinking he'd walk in all WWF greased up and try to body slam Mir or something.

Brock will take a lot more time to be MMA ready.

He needs to know that power is not everything. Talk to Hoyce Gracie. IMO the best MMA in his prime. No wieght classes and only 3 rules....................

    Re: Ufc 81

i think he has good side control. really strong. nice takedowns. if he continued to ground mir, he would've won the fight. very very good wrestling background. but he just lacks experience in mma. he's had only 1 fight prior to this one. and if you watch his previous fight, he just mounted the guy and tee'd off. he didn't get much experience from that fight. he needs to train more against bjj guys. he needs to be more technical against bjj locks. but aside from that he has a very good ground and pound game. he is legit.

he has won the National Collegiate Athletic Association's individual heavyweight wrestling championship.so technique wise, he is up to par with the best of them. just needs more experience in mma.
