Lead in water bowls?

Hi everyone, everything is going great over here with the BP's. I just have a quick question. With all this "lead from China" stuff we hear I took a peak at the bottom of my Corning Ware Souffle cups (meant for human use) and they are from China. I did a bunch of digging around just to confirm they didn't have any lead in them and I couldn't find a definitive answer one way or another. Anyone have any thoughts? I'd hate to have birth defect snakes due to lead in the dish.

I believe that if you go to your local hardware store, they can set you up with a lead testing kit. I've seen them around before, but never had a reason to buy one so I don't know how they work or what they cost.

I'd imagine it would be cheaper to simply buy new water dishes...

But then how do you know the new dishes are okay?????

Actually I have a couple of water bowls that I think do have lead in them. I've been using them for my burms... hasn't affected them yet as far as I can tell, but then again they weren't exactly straight 'A' students to begin with.

Hmmm...but a lot of plastic bowls are painted as well, aren't they?
