Male v. Female, and how hard are they to sell?

I know it depends on the morph, but how hard are they to sell? Are there certain morphs that are really in demand?

Also, which do you think sell better. Males or Females?

Well, I don't do Leopard Geckos, but I would think that the same rules apply to Leopards as to Balls.

Males are harder to sell because you only need one male for a harem of females.

Females still need to be of good quality for them to be able to be sold, in my opinion.

Selling in general is going to be a challenge unless you have a setup or a group of people already interested in your animals. It takes time to sell stuff, and if you aren't patient, it may work against you.

Selling something depends on the breeder's effort put into selling....not the animal itself. It has nothing to do with which morphs or sex you have.

If you represent yourself in a professional manner and take care of your animals, you will sell your animals for the regular market value without issues.

Once you have that down, there are so many opportunities to sell reptiles. Are you selling at shows? Online classifieds? Retail store? Retail website? Wholesale? All of the above?

Each place to sell animals has their own perks and disadvantages....Some may decrease your sales, some may increase your sales....but it all falls back on you presenting yourself and your animals in a professional manner....the sex and morph are insignificant.

The demand for leopard geckos is there....as is the demand for most of the popular reptiles. That is the fact so no problem with glossing it over.

However, demand comes from various people. Not one group. Your comment focused on people interested in setting up breeding groups.

If I am interesting in setting up a breeding group of geckos, of course I want one male and several females. If I am looking for a lone pet lizard, the sex of the animal does not make a difference. If I am a parent buying a pet lizard for my kid, price can be more important that either color or sex. If I am pet store buying wholesale animals to sell, the sex of the animals is of no concern but husbandry issues may be important.

Your method of sale and your customers needs are very important. If there is not a demand, find the demand or create the demand. Don't limit yourself....as it is very common in the business of reptiles.

Act professional. Take care of your animals. And be a good seller. That is all there is to it.
