Feeding behavior

I feed f/t mice and noticed my snake doing something really odd.He strikes and constricts, and constricts, and constricts... About 45 minutes after he started he finally ate. This is only the second feeding, but seems odd that he'd constrict that long. Especially considering it was well past dead when he got it. Anyone ever dealt with anything similar?

I feed live, but I feed in a tub on the floor, and I noticed when I walk by when they are constricted the thumping of my feet actually made them tense up more. Like they thought it was from the animal or something. I didn't notice it with all of them, just the younger snakes. Maybe something similar is going on?

Could very well be. I'll have to watch and see.

Ive noticed that younger bp's like hatchling size constrict prey items forever, after a few feedings they seem to get with the program. No worries

Yep, my baby constricts until the mouse has cooled and I usually have to re-heat the mouse and get her to strike again. The second time she hardly constricts and eats right away. I guess it has become our ritual hahah.
