Drained
I am completely drained of any happy thoughts right now. My day/night has been terrible. At work, I was asked to clean up...well lets just say a very messy explosion in the bathroom. I refused to do so and my manager had to do it. One of my best friends that I haven't seen in over a year came to see me at work. I had already skipped over my 15 min break so that my co-workers could take theirs. When I asked if I could take a 15 to talk to my friend, they said no and so I had to get back to work. I now will not see my friend till late spring or summer and if she goes to grad school, not even then. So a big thanks to my co-workers for ruining my night. Then on top of that, when I get home, like I have done every night for a long while, I hear Aurora's claws scraping at the tray in her kennel. Yep, she's still here.
The SPCA wouldn't take her because she guards toys. The person that said they wanted her said to have her spayed and vaccinated before he could take her. So we did, and then he said "call my daughter to set up a time on Thursday for you guys to meet" so we did, no answer. We left a message, no response. Its now 1am on Saturday, and we still have the dog, and she has no where to go. We are stuck with her because I can't bring myself to just drop her off on the doorstep of some shelter that euthanizes animals.
I just feel so tired, and not really physically, just mentally. I feel drained in a way I haven't felt in a long time. I'm at the bottom of a great big hole and there is no way out. My family owes me $6500 and isn't paying me back and they keep giving me excuses why they can't. I'm just so tired of it all. I want to find an island. Take my fiance, animals (other than the dog), and my computer and just live on this island for the rest of my life.
So, if you are in the Richmond area, or close enough to it, and you want a dog, PLEASE let me know. We are desperate to find her a good home. She is vaccinated and spayed. Great dog, just needs training. 7 month old Australian Shepard/Husky mix.

Re: Drained
Oh gosh~ I am so sorry that life has been so hard for you lately. I can totally relate to needing a quiet place to get away from everything for a while. Your dog sounds great and I admire you for wanting her to have a home and not be euthanized. Have you tried contacting a rescue group for her? Have you placed an ad in the paper? BTW, she guards toys because she is a herding dog! You should have seen my australian shepard with my kids when they were young! Oh brother!!
It's hard when your family lets you down; negotiate with them for a repayment schedule maybe. The economy is tight and money holds a lot of power.
Work? Yuck. Where do you work? Can you change jobs and find one where you will receive a little more respect for being a human being??
Your day sounds like it was really crummy and I'm wondering if today was any better for you...........

Re: Drained
The man who was interested in the dog is now no longer interested because he claims he won't have the time for her. I have one last option before taking her to a shelter that euthanizes, but its not really solving my problem completely.
One of my co-workers (well not anymore because she quit) said she'd take Aurora, no questions asked as long as I took in her little dog, a daschund. She said there is nothing wrong with the dog other than the dog hates her baby and she said she can't have a dog like that in the house. If she were to take Aurora, she would live outside where she could run to her hearts content. Of course, I'd end up with a daschund, which isn't too bad, as the dog is already trained and apparently loves cats, clothes, and sleeping at your feet.
