Brazilian Rainbow Boa

Anyways....a friend has a Brazilian Rainbow Boa....willing to give me this for insanely cheap....I have done a lot of research on them, and seem to be liking them.....only question is does anyone have experience with them and have advice on them? Temperament wise? And are they good in sweater boxes for short periods of time? And besides the humid hide how would someone set up a sweater box as far as heat goes? Thanks again everyone.

Sorry no one answered you yet. These are beautiful snakes! I don't know much about them, but in terms of set up for a tub, you can still use a heat lamp above it but make sure it is not touching the plastic or heating it up too much. You can use flex-watt tape, a heating pad, or a uth on the bottom as long as you make sure that doesn't heat up too much either - raise the tub from the surface some or use a dimmer/rheostat.

Rainbows are great snakes...... Very beautiful and becoming more popular everyday....

Babies almost are always very nippy, many calm down, many don't as adults. I've had adults that are nearly as tame as any ball and I've some that would tag me every chance they got. The most important issue with them is water and humidity. If for some reason they go without water for even a few days they will drop like fly's. Use a good sized heavy water bowl. One it hold more water for them and two they tend to spill the water often making for a mess.

I sold off most of my adults a few years ago and am now growing a decent sized group of them up again.

I have a juvie and he is the calmest snake i own, never tried to bite me once. He does have a strong feeding response though. I agree that they need humidity and make sure the water bowl is always clean and full. Mine does not seem to like heat like my other snakes. He almost never goes on the warm side and i dont have a temp gun but a added more bedding so it would be cooler and he still only goes their once in a while. Some mistakes I have heard of people making is feeding them too much. they are slender snakes and once a week for babies is fine.
