Feeding help?

hey guys

Buddy just took his 2nd F/T. Took him about 2 seconds to recognize it and another 5 to grab it. The problem is he grabbed the fuzzy from the mouse's stomach area and had real hard time pushing it so that he could grab the head. However he went the wrong way and now is eating from the tail. How can I help him? Should I take the fuzzy away and offer it again? Or just let him go at it until he swallows it? Also along with the fuzzy he is swallowing bunch of aspen substrate.

I watched one eat a mouse sideways once - it didn't even stop when I pointed and burst out laughing or anything. Silly goose.

What about all the Aspen that was in his mouth. He ate it alright and then proceeded into his hide. The problem is I don't know what happen thereafter.

Also, while he IS eating, how can I help him? If there is too much substrate stuck in his mouth or if he's trying to eat sideways and can't do swallow and is stuck, how do I help?

I use aspen substrate and I've always been told not to let the snake get any lodged in his mouth so I'm paranoid about using aspen for that reason.

I'd just keep a close eye on him and make sure he's ok.

i use the coco fiber stuff. its much more fine so it seems to me when any does get in his mouth is never very much. and people with experienc on her have said it is digestable (which makes sence considering the digest stright-up mice skeletons just fine)

id rather have a little coco sprinkle in me then a big old wood chip
