Just a little tense

I was wanting to know how long you should leave your new bp in their new setup before taking them out and feeding them? I just got two bp at an expo on saturday, and the 3 month old normal female is doing fine. She is wondering around the tank finding everything and is calm as can be. The 9 month old 50% het piebald is a little jumpy. When I go in the room to check the thermo and humidity he always goes into a spring position and moves away. When I purchased them I asked when the last time they ate, both vendors said they have gone atleast a week without feeding due to the expo, and they were ready to eat anytime. I took them out last night and the female was great, but the male went into a tight ball. I left him alone for a while and he eventually came out, but when I went to pick him up he tried to strike me. I thought that it may be because he hadn't ate in a while so I feed him, and he did eat. Today before work I went in the room to check on the other reptiles and he still was jumpy and moving away from me when I walked by. Sorry for the length just wanted yall to know the whole story. Any suggestions will help.

I used to hold off on feeding when I first got a new addition, but now if it's feeding day I go ahead and offer food to everyone regardless. If they eat, they eat and if they don't, they don't.

Yeah the male took it, but the female didn't I will try in a couple days to get her to eat. No hurry.

Are they together in the same cage?

They are in the same tank, but they are seperated by a divider.

As for the fearful snake, I would work on establishing a good routine when you pick him up. Also, make sure he has adequate hides that are dark and tight. I wouldn't worry about it too much until you've given him a chance to settle in. Of course, I do have one girl that hisses at me pretty frequently but I don't let it deter me from handling her. (I just try to watch that I don't stress her out too much)

Did you happen to buy them at the San Antonio Reptile show this past weekend? Which vendor did ya get em from?

Yes I did. I got my normal female from Glades, and my 50% het piebald male from, I forgot his name. I will look on the receipt when I get home from work. He was the 2nd vendor from the le right on the back wall when you walked in. It was a nice show, but there were a lot of venomous snakes and not alot other to choose from. I like seeing them but, not as many BP as I thought there would be. I will be going to the Austin expo in December. There will be alot more BP the choose from there.

how old is the piebald?

if he is young he will need to be handle more then the female till he gets a lil more tamed to get picked up

also you should come to the columbus,Ohio reptile show TONS of BP, retics, anacondas,burmese,king snakes, live rats, lvie mice. rodent pro is there. can buy rabbits cages, aligators, and sooo many more BP morphs and snakes. very good show they have every month
