That is not as uncommon as I thought it would be. I have found that some of the guys in the industry that keep giants are snakes are scared of spiders.
The one and ONLY time I had one crawl on my arm, it sent shivers up my spine.
With a snake there are usually signs that it may strike. Do spiders show any signs? I've heard it only feels like a bee sting as far as the level of pain. I'm not interested in beeing stung by a bee either.
I can however admire their beauty. I always take time to look at them at reptile shows. When the vender asks if I want him to take it out. I always reply, "sure, just wait until I leave"
They will generally raise up with their front legs up in the air. Kinda like "See my fangs if you touch me I will use them" I call it their kung foo stance.
She has only done that one time with me and I think it was because I startled her. My hand has never moved that fast out of an enclosure.

That depends on the species. Some are more toxic then others. Roses have mild venom and are less likely to bite then others thats why they are a good beginner.
