reptile depot review or good stores in rochester ny?

looking to buy my first BP. currently live in ithaca for school but will be going home to rochester a few days this week for fall break. as ithacas a small town theres no real reptile shops, really only one pet place, a petsmart haha so thats no help.

anyways im just looking for the super basic type, dont want to lay down a few hundred for the first go around.

found 2 spots in the yellow pages, The Reptile Showcase and
Captive Life Forms. anyone ever delt with them?

planning to order from reptile depot if cant find a good in-person location. only have read good things about them on forums but you know how that can be sometimes, anyone personally delt with them before?

    Many thanks!

I definitely recommend going with a breeder instead of a pet store.

One possibility is to find a reptile show that will be in your area sometime soon.

Another possibility is to go to one of the websites that has lots of classified ads for reptiles. If you browse through those you may find someone close enough to you that you can pick up the snake in person.

Even if you can't find someone local to you, a normal male hatchling will cost very little, so even adding the shipping cost on top of it, it may cost you less than what they go for in a pet store. Plus you'll know you are getting a healthy captive bred and you won't have to worry about things like vet bills to get rid of internal parasites.

Re: reptile depot review or good stores in rochester ny?

I actually bought my little girl from Captive Life Forms. She's healthy as could be, great feeding response and a pleasure to handle. ive had her for over a month now with absolutely no problems. Scott, the owner (or his son i dont remember which ) are nice guys to work with. their prices were very reasonable and they offered to help me with anything. they had females when i was in last but may have males now if you're looking for one of them. my room mate got her bearded dragon from them a few years ago and she's doing great as well. i would highly recommend them but i do wish there were reptile shows up here.

if you want any more info on them feel free to throw me an IM. (clockworkjukebox) ill answer any questions if you have them.
