    Need some ideas... Cresties...

Okay, I had my two oldest cresties sexed by the breeder I bought them from here. So I decided since they are both female and very sweet, I would like to house them together. So I bought a 29 gallon tank, for just the two of them. Which they are already in, eating, drinking, and doing excellent. They even sleep together. I am able to keep a good eye on them because they are right next to my computer desk in the living room.

Well, I have lots of silk plants but its really kind of boring. So with out actually planting the tank, I would like to put some live plants in there with planters.

What are some nice sized leafy plants that are safe? That won't get gigantic, or as long as I can trim them back. I did find some on blackjungle but I would like more of a variety.

Any ideas or pics for me would be awesome!!
    Thanks

I rotate a couple plants in and out of my cresties enclosure, just because he jumps on them a fair bit and the crickets nibble on them.

I've never bought anything from blackjungle, I think their prices are a little extreme and some other plants that you can get from the grocery store or lowe's are just as nice. If you're setting up a dart tank fine, but a crestie isn't really the best critter to house with rare/expensive plants.

Abe (the crestie) likes ficus a lot, as it has lots of branches and twigs to climb on and he likes pothos vines to crawl around in. Those are two GREAT plants use. Peperomia are also nice, as are any old bromeliads. Really though, basically any plant that's not poisonous is fine. Stay away from Diffenbachia

Thanks, I kind of thought the same thing about the prices from blackjungle, I haven't ordered them yet though.

I will look at lowes. We also have about a billion nursery's around here too.

So should I stay away from plants that have been planted in fertilizer? Or can I buy some that have been planted in fertilzer and replant them in something safe for the cresties?

Honestly, I've never worried about fertilizers, but if someone says that they can present a problem, I'll repot my plants faster than you can say rhacodactylus ciliatus. My gecko's been kept in with them for a year and a half or so, and he's always been the picture of health, but I don't know how much of a reassurance that is.

As for any plant that may have had fertilizer I would at least rinse of the leaves really well before you put in it with them. You may want to give the plant some sort of "quarentine" period before you put it on there.

I also had some sort of Sansearvia (mother in law's tongue) plant in with my crested when I had them, they liked that as well.

    Re: Need some ideas... Cresties...

The only info that I could find was to take the plant out of the fertilizer mix and was the plant and roots. Then re-pot in soil with out fertilizer.

I just got done putting in some forrest bed stuff and I am going to get plants. The geckos LOVE the forrest bed, one of them has built herself a little burrow under her coconut hide.

They have also taken to eating crickets in my spare tank so I don't have to worry about impaction. I will have to get some pics of the tank so far.
