It's a game called Snakes and Ladders instead of the old Chutes and Ladders.

also another good find was some nice heavy crock water dishes

I used to play chutes-and-ladders all the time as a kid. Candy-land too; remember that? I loved that game. And Monopoly. My friends and I were too young to understand it, but drove the cars around/etc.. put the people on the wheel and spun it, making them fly all over the room.. good times!
Snakes are cooler than chutes..
