Unhappy How long untill she becomes use to me??

I've had her for about two weeks now and she gets really nervous when i come around. She doesn't like to be touched on the head but after a few minutes she begins to wrap around my hand. Is there a certain amount of time until they aren't scared?

after you leave them alone for the first week while they get settled in... then handling them for a few minutes every day or two should do it for ya.

i find that if my snake is head shy... then i don't touch their head. simple

ball pythons tend to be shy snakes. so they may always be nervous at first, but wouldn't you be if this huge thing came swooping in on you from above? in the wild when they are young they are the prey, so it's in there genes to be weary or big things around them. after you pick them up and they realize you're not going to eat them, they become less nervous. it just takes time.

Re: How long untill she becomes use to me??

Razzle snakes don't adjust to anything quickly. For a snake, a couple of weeks is pretty much the blink of an eye, I figure. Plus you are talking about a snake that's generally accepted to be pretty shy overall. Add that to the fact that most any snake, ball python or not, does not like it's head touched, especially from above (you are in a predatory position). Most of our ball pythons will accept being gently rubbed under the "chin" sort of thing.

You've only had the snake a couple of weeks. Be very patient, very calm and use a lot of reptitive, simple habits to help the snake feel less stressed. Even the calmest snake though can and will react poorly occasionally. These are after all snakes, not puppies or kittens, and captive born or not...they'll react like a snake to things and sometimes that reaction isn't what we want, but it's what we should expect.
