And this is why I use 12" hemostats even though I feed live. To fend off the "bitey things" that aren't fuzzy

Little Wirenth, even at 300g(or whatever she weighs now.. she's a fatty), JUMPS out of the tub and tries to nail me everytime I go to feed. Any of you feeding box people want to come try and feed her? Heh. I can't even do the stealthy SWAT team thing you are doing Jo, as she means business. I have to hold her back with the hemostats and drop the mouse in the corner where she isn't looking, then I quickly close the tub.

Yep! Luna, my '06 is like that. I always keep myself on red-alert when sliding her tub open. I will Gently tap her with the stick end of a water-sprayer bottle thingie to let her know that it is not feeding time. She will then recoil and sit there, and I pick her up without going right for her head (I am not suicidal, hehe.) My big girl, Ginger, is similar too.. she just got back on feed after lying eggs, and she would be a much bigger thing to deal with than little Luna! Both of these two are the only ones out of my BP brood that have ever bitten me. I love them to death.

WOW!! Mine is just the opposite. I take him out to the freezer, we pick out a ratsicle (in a plastic bag), put it in water, change the water a couple of times, and take them both to his tank. He goes on a paper towel while I remove the warm rat. He eats without a problem.

    Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder

My female pastel always shoots out of her tub when I open it. I have to feed her first so I don't smell like rats when I grab her and put her back in with the meal. My Spider is a pretty aggressive feeder, too. I've had him constrict a couple rats while hanging over the edge of his tub.

My macklott's python was super aggressive if she was hungry. She was really tame, but if she was hungry she got scary. She would constantly catch rats mid-air when I threw them in. Like a rabid dog playing frisby. She also tried to swallow my arm one time when she was a yearling.
What are these mojavas I keep hearing so much about?

I hear alot about platics tubs. I guess these are common? I use a 20g fish tank. I keep my BP right by the computer so we can make snake-eyes at each other while I'm working. I would hate to have some container that I can't see through.

Actually Bear it's a misconception that you can't see through some plastic bin housing. Iris brand makes wonderful tubs that give you all the benefits of plastic but are glass clear (as well as smooth inside so no icky ridges to trap feces and urates). We're slowing switching over to all Iris in our collection.

    Re: Talk About Agressive Feeder

i have an entire rack of bps that do the whole shooting out of the tub deal, whether it's feeding night or not. they are all seriously insane and i love it! 6 are babies i produced last year (and i am SO proud of all my little crazy eaters!), one is my spider and one is the super pastel. they never, ever miss a meal--EVER. on feeding night i hold the rat in one hand and a paper towel roll in the other. while i'm tossing the rat in from as much of a distance as possible i use the paper towel roll to protect myself and guide flailing, launching snake bodies back into their tubs. i figure if they bite the paper towels they won't hurt themselves, and a hook is not near enough protection for me since they shoot right past it. let me just say that switching from live to f/t was NOT an issue with these snakes.

I don't even have one of those super-clear Iris tubs and I can still see through it just fine. Say what you will, but if you ever make the switch, you'll never go back to tanks
