It's been awhile since I messed with my probes, but I want to say about 5-6 feet.

i don't know if 12 feet is much of a quarantine. a separate room is best, but that can't always be accommodated. just make sure you handle your established snakes before the new ones. and wash up good. boa's can be carriers of IBD, which is deadly to ball pythons. but if you are planning on getting them i am sure you already know all of this.

Well I figure its gonna be about 20 some feet by the time I spread the cage's out *I have a big room* it'll be unit in between both type deal. But I get what your saying on the seperate room. I was just thinking 315 vs 415 for 2 herpstat II but if it means the health of my snakes then I guess 415 it would be, but im also buying from a quality breeder so I feel a bit more comfortable about that.
