    Where's Waldo... er... Beethoven?

My BCI Beethoven went missing last night. This is actually a very common occurrence at our house as we let him out every night to roam around the room. It's a small room, only about 12' x 12', and we use it as a snake room and homeschool classroom so there aren't too many places he can hide from us... but he does try his best.

We've found him on top of the bookshelf, *IN* the bookshelf behind books, behind the snake racks, etc. I wouldn't think there would be so many places for an almost 7 foot snake to hide, but he finds them. However, last night we couldn't find him at all.

So I did what any loving father would do: I bribed my kids with an extra hour of playing WoW to whomever found him first. Needless to say, *I* got the extra hour.

It turns out he squeezed himself into a very small hole in the back of an Animal Plastics rack. They place this hole in the back of the rack for the heat cable to come out of so you can plug it in... it's only about 2" x 3". I wouldn't think one of my Balls would fit in that hole much less a large BCI, but he managed to do it. After searching over the entire room I decided that was the only place that we didn't look so I leaned the rack over and could see his pink scales peeking out.

So then we had to get started removing all of the snakes from that rack in order to pull the rack away from the wall and lean it over far enough to get him out. He was fine, although I think he enjoyed being wrapped around the heat cable. And of course the Balls didn't even wake up while I moved them in and out of the rack.

Point of the story? Don't overlook those "impossible" spots when looking for your missing snake.

Great story. They can fit in the tightest spaces. Glad you found him and you didn't disturb the balls.

Too many boas to list and a few balls as well
