my cousin has recently added a KSB to his collection and i am very interested in them myself... i have done loads of research and deffinatly considering buying one... from what i have read it sounds like these snakes do not seem like they are hard to take care for...also if i do finnaly decide to get 1 i would really like to breed mine and his together... does anyone have any experince with breeding and or just caring for these snakes?...

I have two kenyan sand boas and a roughscaled sand boa. They're super easy.. provide a deep substrate (I use aspen) for them to burrow in. No hides necessary.. and you can keep them in the same temps/humidity as a ball python.

They occasionally are picky eaters.. I've found it helpful to place the snake with it's prey inside a paper bag overnight (p/k unless it's a young baby)

KSBs come in some pretty morphs too. I have a normal and an anerythristic.

Hi All,.... I have been working with sand boas for over 14 years. I think they are fantastic snakes to keep. The kenyans do have many different color mutations, and even normals are very variable in color. They are easy to keep in rack type setups, dont get overly large, and for the most part are non-problematic feeders. There are other types of sand boas that may require more detail to care, but kenyans are,and have been popular for many years now. I hope everyone who has an interest researches and talks with keepers to gain knowledge. You just might find yourself with a collection increasing with them!!!! I did a little research on them and on the most part from what ive read is they are good beginner snake. The thing that I was suprised from researching is aspen is best like Shelby said. Although they are called sand boa's and burry in the sand in the wild, sand is not good in captivity because of the weight of it on them, so use aspen. Correct me if my wrong, im still learning.

Sand boas don't actually live in sand in the wild.. more like leaf litter.. that's what I remember reading somewhere, but I can't find it now!
